PRESS LEATHER JEWELRY

"Jewelry using leather and press(machine & metal molds)

The work has been developed since the time I experienced myself old press machines and metal molds at the Museum of Technology in Germany.

Main idea of my work is pressing leather and metal together, using useless retro metal molds in a different way of typical use. I used to think that shaping materials using a press was done in the industrial process or that it was suitable for only manufacturing the uniform and boring goods. However the more I experiment the machine and molds the more I could find out different ways to use it for creation.

In most of my works, pieces are connected by press, using hardness of after pressing. Leather is flexible and durable at the same time, so is very suitable material to press. Also to develop my own way of treating leather, I patterned the leather by press and dyed myself.. "
